KATHMANDU: Several parts of the country are likely to experience rainfall and snowfall accompanied by thunder, lightning, strong winds and hail due to the influence of a western low-pressure system and monsoon winds.
According to the Weather Forecasting Division, heavy rainfall is possible this afternoon in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as at one or two places in the Terai region of Koshi Province.
Currently, the hilly and mountainous regions, Madhesh Province, and the Terai areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces are generally cloudy, while other parts of the country are partly cloudy. Moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning has been reported at one or two places in Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
This afternoon, the mountainous and hilly regions are expected to remain generally cloudy. The Terai regions of Madhesh, Koshi and Sudurpaschim provinces will also experience generally cloudy conditions, while other parts of the Terai are likely to remain partly cloudy.
The Division has forecast moderate rainfall and snowfall, accompanied by thunder, lightning, strong winds and hail, at some places in the mountainous and hilly regions. Moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is also possible at some places in Koshi, Madhesh and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in parts of the Terai in Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
Tonight, the mountainous and hilly regions are expected to remain generally cloudy. Moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at some places in Koshi and the hilly regions of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as at one or two places in Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Similarly, moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is possible at some places in the Terai region of Koshi Province and Madhesh Province, as well as at one or two places in the Terai regions of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. Heavy rainfall is also possible at one or two places in the hilly and low-lying areas of Koshi Province.
The Division has warned that temperatures may decline slightly across the country and reiterated the possibility of heavy rainfall in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as at one or two places in the low-lying areas of Koshi Province.
It has also urged the public, farmers and concerned agencies to regularly monitor the latest weather updates and forecasts and take necessary precautions to minimize potential risks from adverse weather conditions.
