KATHMANDU: Advance ticket booking for long- and medium-distance buses has opened today (Friday) to facilitate travel during the upcoming festival season, according to the Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs.
Federation Chairman Punya Prasad Sitaula ‘Saroj’ said passengers could book tickets from today. He said the federation had made necessary preparations to manage the expected surge in passenger numbers and prevent overcharging and other forms of exploitation during the festive period.
Sitaula urged passengers to check three key details when purchasing tickets: their destination, travel date and seat number. He advised passengers to verify these details carefully, whether booking tickets online or at counters.
The federation said it would closely monitor ticket sales to prevent black-market activities. Sitaula warned that transport operators found charging fares above government-approved rates or hoarding tickets would face legal action.
Passengers have also been advised to avoid unnecessary crowds and purchase tickets only from authorized counters or verified online platforms.
Meanwhile, transport operators have been instructed to ensure that vehicles are roadworthy and drivers exercise caution. The federation said these measures are intended to ensure safe, comfortable and hassle-free travel during the festival season.
