KATHMANDU: Voting to elect the new leadership of the Nepali Congress is taking place today as part of the party’s 15th General Convention.
Polling is being held at three designated locations in Kathmandu—Khulamanch, the National Assembly Hall and Nepal Academy. Polling stations have been set up and ballot boxes prepared at the three venues.
Voting was originally scheduled to begin at 10 am on Thursday but was postponed three times, with the Election Committee eventually setting 2:30 pm as the revised time. However, voting could not begin even at the revised time due to delays in preparations.
According to Election Committee coordinator and senior advocate Prem Bahadur Khadka, voting will begin at 7 am today. The committee cited delays in receiving election materials from the press as the reason for the postponement.
The Election Committee has completed the necessary preparations at all three polling locations for today’s voting.
