NC Deuba faction calls meeting of former office-bearers

KATHMANDU: A faction of the Nepali Congress close to former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba has called a meeting of former office-bearers for Friday.

The meeting will be held at the group’s contact office in Chundevi and will be attended by former office-bearers affiliated with the Deuba camp.

According to party leader Prakash Sharan Mahat, the meeting will primarily discuss preparations for observing B.P. Memorial Day on July 22, with plans to organize the event separately and on a larger scale.

Mahat said the meeting is expected to assign responsibilities to ensure the successful organization of the commemorative program.

The participants are also expected to hold preliminary discussions on a proposed national gathering, which is being viewed as one of the party’s upcoming political activities.

The meeting comes at a time when different factions within the Nepali Congress have become increasingly active in formulating their political strategies, and is being seen as part of the Deuba camp’s preparations ahead of future intra-party developments.
