Oli says govt has given people nothing to celebrate in first 100 days

KATHMANDU: Chairperson of the CPN-UML KP Sharma Oli on Thursday said the current government has done nothing in its first 100 days to make the public happy.

Speaking at a party induction program at the UML central office in Chyasal, Oli said the government had given people “nothing but reasons to suffer” during its first 100 days in office.

He remarked that the only way people could find happiness these days was by staying up late to watch FIFA World Cup matches. Comparing the government to a pot of boiling milk, Oli said it had “lost touch with the ground” and lacked a sense of responsibility.

Oli also claimed that people risk facing legal action or imprisonment for speaking against the Prime Minister or government ministers, and sarcastically advised the public not to criticize them.

He said it was up to the people and the media to decide what score the government deserved for its performance.

Rejecting claims that the UML was in decline, Oli said the party was founded not to disappear but to build the nation and achieve success.

During the program, Oli also welcomed six central committee members, including Politburo member D.B. Karki, from the Communist Party of Nepal into the UML.
