One killed in pickup truck accident



SUNSARI: A person died in a pickup truck accident on the Mahendra Highway at Kerabari of Koshi Rural Municipality-8 last night.

The deceased has been identified as 42-year-old driver Padam Rai of Darwesha, Rangeli Municipality-3, Morang, according to Sunsari Deputy Superintendent of Police Chandra Bahadur Khadka.

The pickup truck (Province 1-02-002 Cha 4831), which was travelling empty from Bhantabari towards Laukahi, lost control and crashed on the highway last night.

Rai sustained serious injuries in the accident and was rushed to District Hospital Inaruwa for treatment, where he died during treatment, police said.

Another passenger, 37-year-old Santosh Kumar Sah of Lahan Municipality, Siraha, who was residing in Biratnagar-13, was also injured in the accident. His condition is reported to be stable, and he is receiving treatment.

Police said an investigation into the accident is underway.
