KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has decided to launch a nationwide consultation program as part of its election review and organizational restructuring process.
A meeting of the task force led by party Vice-Chair Ram Bahadur Thapa was held on Tuesday at the party headquarters in Chyasal under the chief presence of party Chair KP Sharma Oli.
The meeting focused on strengthening party organization and determining its future political direction. According to party publicity department chief Niraj Acharya, the task force has prepared a work plan to conduct nationwide consultations until July 3.
He said the program aims to collect suggestions and hold discussions from the provincial to the central level to make the party structure more effective and robust.
Under the schedule, consultation programs will be held in different provinces as follows:
- June 13: Bagmati Province
- June 16: Koshi Province
- June 18: Lumbini Province
- June 20: Sudurpaschim Province
- June 22: Karnali Province
- June 25: Gandaki Province
- June 27: Madhesh Province
- June 30: Kathmandu Valley
- July 1: Contact Coordination Committee
- July 2: Mass Organizations
- July 3: Department heads and office bearers
Provincial-level meetings will include central members, provincial office bearers, and district-level leaders from the respective regions. Coordination of the programs will be handled by provincial in-charges.
The meeting also assigned Shankar Pokharel as the member-secretary of the task force.
During the meeting, Chair Oli emphasized the need to make the party more unified, organized, and people-oriented, urging party workers to play an active role among the public.
The task force also discussed in detail election review, organizational restructuring, and future political strategies, according to UML Secretary Mahesh Basnet.
