Moderate rain with thunder likely today



KATHMANDU: Nepal is currently under the influence of a western low-pressure system, local winds, and a low-pressure area in the lower atmosphere near the eastern part of the country.

According to the Weater Forecasting Division, the weather is generally cloudy in the mountainous and hilly regions of Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as in Koshi, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. The remaining Terai areas are partly cloudy.

The Division has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall at a few places in Koshi, Bagmati and Lumbini provinces. Light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is also likely at one or two places in Madhesh, Gandaki and Karnali provinces.

This afternoon, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in the hilly and mountainous regions, while the Terai region will see partly cloudy conditions.

Moderate rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning are likely at some places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and at a few places in similar regions of the remaining provinces.

Light rain with thunder and lightning is also possible at one or two places in the Terai region.

Tonight, Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces are expected to remain generally cloudy, while the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy weather.

The Division said there is a possibility of moderate rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning at a few places in the hilly and mountainous areas of these provinces.
