Newly elected National Assembly members take oath of office and secrecy



KATHMANDU: Newly elected members of the National Assembly of Nepal under the Federal Parliament were administered the oath of office and secrecy on Monday.

The ceremony, held at Singha Durbar, saw National Assembly Chair Narayan Prasad Dahal administer the oath in accordance with Article 86, Clause 2 of the Constitution of Nepal.

After taking the oath, Chair Dahal presented the newly elected members with the official logo of the parliament and extended best wishes for a successful term in office.

The elections for 18 National Assembly seats were held on January 25. The newly elected members include Roshni Meche, Somanath Portel, and Sunil Bahadur Thapa from Koshi Province. Rekha Kumari Jha, Dharmendra Paswan, Ranjit Karn, and Mahanth Thakur from Madhes Province, Geeta Devkota and Prem Prasad Dangal from Bagmati Province. Jagat Timilsina and Samjhana Devkota from Gandaki Province, Ram Kumari Jhankri, Chandrabahadur KC, and Basudev Ghimire Lumbini Province, Meena Singh Rakhal and Lalit Jung Shahi from Karnali Province, Leela Kumari Bhandari and Khamb Bahadur Khati from Sudurpaschim Province.

The National Assembly comprises 59 members, with one-third of members elected every two years.
