Kathmandu Valley’s minimum temperature drops to 15.5°C

KATHMANDU: The minimum temperature in the Kathmandu Valley has dropped today, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.

The Division said the minimum temperature in the valley was recorded at 15.5 degrees Celsius at 5:45 am on Monday.

At the same time on Sunday, the minimum temperature was 17.0 degrees Celsius, which remained unchanged during the last measurement at 8:45 am.

The official measurement for today will also be taken at 8:45 am. Meteorologists say the minimum temperature may drop slightly from the initial reading or remain the same.

According to meteorologists, cloudy conditions at night tend to raise the morning minimum temperature, while clear skies during the night lead to lower temperatures in the morning.

In contrast, maximum temperatures behave differently. If the weather remains cloudy during the day, afternoon temperatures tend to decrease, while clear skies allow temperatures to rise due to stronger sunshine.

Despite short-term fluctuations, meteorologists say overall temperatures are gradually increasing as the winter season comes to an end.

The Division records daily minimum and maximum temperatures in Kathmandu and other parts of the country. The minimum temperature reflects conditions from night to morning, while the maximum temperature indicates daytime conditions.

The minimum temperature is officially recorded at 8:45 am, while the maximum temperature is measured at 5:45 pm.
