RSP’s Bikram Timilsina breaks Mahat family stronghold in Nuwakot-1



NUWAKOT: Dr. Bikram Timilsina of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has won the House of Representatives seat from Nuwakot-1, ending the longstanding influence of the Mahat family in the constituency.

Timilsina secured 22,609 votes, defeating Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat of the Nepali Congress.

Other candidates in the race included Hit Bahadur Tamang of the Nepali Communist Party, who received 13,377 votes, and Badri Mainali of the UML, who secured 8,932 votes. Amit Tamang of the Ujyalo Nepal Party received 2,063 votes.

Among 18 candidates, the remaining contenders received fewer than 1,000 votes each.
