Youth arrested with 244.7 kg of marijuana



BHOJPUR: Police in Bhojpur have arrested a 19-year-old man with 244.7 kilograms of marijuana.

Police arrested Ekraj Magar of Aamchowk Rural Municipality-7 from the Dhiring Khola area of Hatuwagadhi Rural Municipality-9 based on special information.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Gyan Bahadur Khadka of the District Police Office, a police team deployed after receiving the information took Magar into custody. Police also recovered six sacks of marijuana, a motorcycle and a mobile phone from him.

Magar, along with the seized marijuana and other items, has been brought to the District Police Office for further investigation.

Information Officer Rakesh Rai said the Bhojpur District Court has remanded Magar in custody for 20 days for investigation into the narcotics-related offence.

Police have been conducting a campaign to control marijuana cultivation and transportation in the district. As part of the campaign, police destroyed 36,090 marijuana plants cultivated on 82 ropanis of land in Bhadra and another 9,550 plants cultivated on 34 ropanis in Asoj.
