NC General Convention: Voting to begin at 10 am today

KATHMANDU: Voting for the election of new leadership of the Nepali Congress (NC) at its ongoing 15th National General Convention is scheduled to begin at 10 am today (Thursday).

A total of 7,255 general convention representatives will participate in the election to choose the party’s new leadership.

According to Prem Khadka, coordinator of the NC Central Election Committee and senior advocate, voting was originally scheduled to start at 7 am but was postponed by three hours due to rainfall and technical issues.

Seven polling stations have been arranged at three locations in Kathmandu. Separate voting centres have been designated based on provincial representation and different categories of delegates to facilitate the voting process.

The polling station at National City Hall has been designated for representatives from Bagmati Province. Representatives from Koshi, Madhesh, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces will cast their votes at Khulamanch.

The Election Committee has also arranged voting facilities at Khulamanch for representatives of sister organizations, well-wisher organizations and Public Relations Committees.

Representatives from Gandaki and Lumbini provinces will vote at the Nepal Academy building. Delegates have been assigned to polling stations according to their respective provinces and electoral clusters.

Khadka said voting would begin at 10 am. Representatives must present their identity cards and ensure that their names appear on the voter list to be eligible to vote.
