RSP completes district conventions in 56 districts, prepares for national general convention



KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has completed its district conventions in 56 districts across the country, while election processes are still ongoing in 12 districts, the party said.

According to party spokesperson Manish Jha, the party had scheduled district conventions in two phases on Saturday and Sunday.

Of the total districts, conventions were completed in 38 districts on Saturday alone, while processes continued in 28 districts on Sunday. In most of the districts where conventions began on Sunday, new working committees have already been elected.

In Koshi Province, conventions have been completed in districts including Jhapa, Morang, Tehrathum, Taplejung, Bhojpur, Sankhuwasabha, Panchthar, Okhaldhunga, Sunsari, Solukhumbu, Khotang, Ilam and Dhankuta. Preparations for elections are underway in Udayapur.

In the Madhesh Province, conventions have been completed in Mahottari, Rautahat, Siraha, Parsa and Sarlahi, while election processes are underway following conventions in some districts. Conventions in Saptari and Bara are being held on Monday, and Dhanusha is scheduled for Tuesday.

In Bagmati Province, conventions have already been completed in districts including Dolakha, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Nuwakot, Makwanpur, Kavrepalanchok, Rasuwa, Sindhuli, Dhading, Ramechhap, Chitwan and Lalitpur. However, the convention in Sindhupalchok has been postponed.

In Gandaki Province, conventions have been completed in Syangja, Kaski, Parbat, Lamjung, Myagdi, Tanahun and Gorkha. In Baglung, the process has been halted following disputes despite earlier claims of consensus. Election procedures are ongoing in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East), according to the party.

In Lumbini Province, conventions have been completed in Gulmi, Nawalparasi (West), Palpa, Kapilvastu, Dang, Pyuthan, Banke, Bardiya, Rolpa, Arghakhanchi and Rupandehi.

In Karnali Province, conventions have been completed in Kalikot, Salyan, Rukum West, Mugu and Jumla, while elections are underway in Surkhet, Jajarkot and Dailekh.

In Sudurpaschim Province, conventions have been completed in Baitadi, Bajhang, Darchula, Achham, Dadeldhura, Kailali and Kanchanpur, while election processes are still pending in Doti and Bajura.

The RSP is set to hold its provincial conventions starting May 26. The Bagmati Province convention will take place on Tuesday.

The party is moving toward its first national general convention scheduled for June 7–9 in Chitwan after completing lower-level organizational structures.

RSP has already completed conventions in 4,250 ward committees and 516 local units nationwide, the party said.
