Concrete bridge completed at Kaikukhola along Kaligandaki Corridor

MYAGDI: A concrete bridge has been constructed at Kaikukhola along the Beni–Jomsom–Korala road, enabling smooth vehicular movement on the key mountain highway.

The Beni–Jomsom–Korala Road Planning Office has built a 20-metre-long concrete bridge in Thasang Rural Municipality. Information Officer and Engineer Jem Kumar Baitha said traffic has already resumed following the completion of the structure.

The contract for the bridge was signed at a cost of Rs 53.46 million. Along with the bridge construction, access road improvement works and flood and erosion protection structures have also been completed.

According to the office, 15 concrete bridges have been completed so far along the 202-kilometre Beni–Jomsom–Korala road, stretching from Lamdhunga in Parbat to the Korala checkpoint at the Nepal–China border in the Tibet Autonomous Region.

Construction of another bridge is currently underway at Ghamikhola in Lomanthang–Damodarkunda Rural Municipality. In addition, six bailey bridges have also been installed along the route to ensure year-round connectivity.
