Harka Sampang and Sudan Kirati reach unity agreement, formal announcement today

KATHMANDU: Shram Sanskriti Party Chairperson Harka Sampang and former minister Sudan Kirati have reached an agreement on party unification.

According to sources, an understanding has been reached to position Kirati as a senior leader in the unified party structure.

Kirati’s aide Hemanta Kirati said a press conference will be held at Hardik Hotel in Bagbazar at 3 pm today to formally announce the unification.

Sudan Kirati, a former Maoist leader, had joined Janardan Sharma’s Pragatisheel Loktantrik Party after the merger of the Nepal Communist Party with the CPN-Maoist Centre and the Unified Socialist Party.

Following the House of Representatives elections held on March 5, he resigned from the party’s ordinary membership and had been serving as a member of its five-member presiding council.
