KATHMANDU: Minister for Home Affairs Om Prakash Aryal said the social amity and co-existence play vital roles in building a prosperous Nepal.
Addressing the silver jubilee celebration of the National Foundation for Development of Indigenous Nationalities and the Nepal Indigenous Knowledge Conference here today, Minister Aryal reaffirmed government’s commitment to implementing the principle of inclusiveness in line with spirit of constitution.
Aryal, also the Spokesperson of the government, asserted that the government has been enforcing the inclusiveness envisioned by the Constitution of Nepal. It will be given continuity in the coming days as well, he added.
Protecting rights of all ethnic communities in the country is essential task of government, he said, adding, “Efforts are on to increase the participation of all communities at policy-level.”
Aryal further insisted, “Proportional inclusiveness is the core spirit of the constitution of Nepal and it is our common responsibility to safeguard it.”
Likewise, Chairperson of National Human Rights Commission, Top Bahadur Magar, called on the government to prioritize preservation and promotion of indigenous communities’ culture, languages and traditional knowledge and skills while pursuing development works.
Similarly, Vice-President of the Foundation, Resham Gurung, informed that the three-day event was organized with an objective to preserve and promote traditional knowledge and skills of the indigenous communities. He expressed his confidence that the event discussions and the conclusions drawn from those discussions would contribute significantly to shaping State policies.
Additionally, Chairperson of the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities, Gelje Lama Sherpa, said that the State should promote traditional knowledge and skills of indigenous nationalities besides transferring them to newer generation. “Our art and culture is disappearing. Development should not undermine the essence of indigenous communities. It is the State’s responsibility to protect and promote arts, cultures of all communities,” he observed.
