Over 1,500 election publicity items removed for violating code of conduct in Dhanusha

DHANUSHA: Posters, banners, stickers, and flags placed in public areas in violation of the election code of conduct have been removed in Janakpurdham.

Following repeated complaints to the District Election Office, the relevant political parties and candidates were initially asked to remove the materials themselves. When they failed to comply, the District Police Office intervened, removing more than 1,500 illegal promotional items during monitoring in the Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City area on Saturday.

According to the police, any campaign materials posted in public places, on electric poles, walls, or government structures are considered violations of the election code of conduct.

Ganesh Bahadur Bam, spokesperson for the District Police Office and Deputy Superintendent of Police, said monitoring revealed that the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) had the highest number of violations.

He added that regular monitoring is ongoing and that the Election Office has warned parties and candidates that legal action may be taken against those who fail to comply with the code of conduct.

In this context, the local administration, police, and other concerned bodies have urged all political parties to act responsibly to ensure free, fair, and credible elections. Authorities have also made it clear that monitoring will continue in the coming days, and strict action will be taken if violations are repeated.
