Floods and landslides block major highways

KATHMANDU: Floods and landslides have disrupted several major highways in Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, causing delays and affecting road connectivity in various areas.

According to Nepal Police, all major highways in Rasuwa district have remained completely blocked since the floods on August 26. Authorities said the affected routes will remain closed until further notice.

The Beni-Jomsom road has also been completely blocked since a landslide occurred at Baisari in Raghuganga Rural Municipality-2 at around 5:50 am on September 26.

Similarly, the Kaligandaki Corridor has been operating under one-way traffic since a landslide occurred at Janti Pahiro in Baudikali Rural Municipality-3 at around 4:45 pm on September 30. Police said large vehicles are currently unable to pass through the affected section.

Meanwhile, the Besisahar-Khangsar road section in Manang, which was damaged by flooding, partially resumed one-way traffic at around 4 pm on October 4.

Authorities are coordinating with relevant agencies to clear the affected road sections and restore normal traffic. Travelers have been advised to check the latest road conditions before starting their journeys.
