KATHMANDU: The weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in the mountainous and hilly regions of the country this afternoon, with rain likely in several areas, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.
The Terai areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces are also expected to remain generally cloudy, while partly cloudy conditions are forecast in the remaining Terai areas.
Moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning, strong winds and hail is likely at a few places in the mountainous regions and at some places in the hilly areas. Moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning, strong winds and hail is also possible at some places in the Terai areas of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces and at a few places in the Terai areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, including Madhes Province.
Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in the hilly and Terai areas of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces and in the hilly areas of Bagmati, Gandaki and Karnali provinces.
Meanwhile, Kaski recorded the highest rainfall in the past 12 hours, with 34.4 mm measured at the Malepatan station, the division said. The update was issued at 6:38 am on Wednesday.
During the period, light to moderate rainfall was recorded at a few places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali provinces and at one or two places in Sudurpaschim Province.
Meanwhile, the sky is expected to remain generally cloudy in Koshi Province and the mountainous and hilly regions of the country, while the Terai areas are likely to remain partly cloudy. Mist or fog may develop in the Terai during the morning.
Light rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is possible at one or two places in the mountainous regions. Moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely at a few places in the hilly areas of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces and at one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
Moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is also possible at one or two places in the Terai region.
