Health insurance services to be made easier in flood-affected districts

KATHMANDU: The Health Insurance Board has decided to facilitate health insurance services in flood-affected districts.

Issuing a statement on Monday, the Board said health insurance services would be made more accessible in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading, which were severely affected by the Bhotekoshi flood on Bhadra 10.

With the aim of ensuring smooth access to health insurance services for affected citizens, the Board has decided to waive co-payments and service capping for a specified period at health institutions providing health insurance services in the three districts.

Capping refers to the maximum amount that insurance covers for a particular service or treatment.

According to the Board, even if insured individuals do not have their health insurance cards in the affected areas, they will be able to receive services after their health insurance numbers are verified through the system provided to health service institutions.

Dr Pawan Kumar Sah, senior medical superintendent and spokesperson for the Health Insurance Board, said the decision would make it easier for flood-affected residents of Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading to access health services.
