Electricity restored to 99% of households in Dhading

RASUWA: The Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation has made significant progress in restoring electricity in areas severely affected by the recent floods.

Power supply has been restored to 99.8 percent of households in Dhading and 96.7 percent in Nuwakot, despite difficult weather conditions. Both districts were among those severely affected by the Bhotekoshi flash flood on August 26 and the subsequent disasters.

A technical team from the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is continuing efforts to restore electricity to the remaining households in Rasuwa.

Meanwhile, search and rescue operations are underway at several hydropower projects, including Upper Trishuli-3A, Upper Trishuli-3B, Chilime and Rasuwagadhi.

Essential equipment, including mud pumps and generators, has been airlifted to the affected sites to support rescue and restoration efforts. Rescue teams have already gained access to the Rasuwagadhi powerhouse, while debris-clearing work is continuing at several locations. At Upper Trishuli-3B, mini excavators are being used to remove accumulated debris.

Alongside immediate power restoration, the ministry is also focusing on alternative energy solutions for affected communities by dispatching solar power systems to the disaster-hit areas.

So far, solar systems for 13 offices and 500 households have been sent to the affected areas. The ministry plans to distribute additional solar systems to 1,268 households in Rasuwa.

The ministry has coordinated the transportation of the solar systems by helicopter to areas where road access remains disrupted.
