India assures uninterrupted supply of fuel and fertilizers to Nepal

KATHMANDU: India has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the uninterrupted supply of petroleum products and chemical fertilizers to Nepal, describing bilateral ties as “multidimensional.”

During a weekly media briefing on Thursday, Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said trade and strategic cooperation between Nepal and India remain strong.

Responding to a question about the supply of essential goods to Nepal, Jaiswal said the import-export process between the two countries is continuing smoothly.

“We are supplying fuel under the cooperation agreement between Nepal and India on petroleum products,” he said. “This process will continue in the coming days as well.”

Jaiswal also expressed a positive stance on the supply of chemical fertilizers, an issue considered highly sensitive in Nepal.

“We will provide the chemical fertilizers that Nepal requires,” he said. Nepal recently signed a government-to-government (G2G) agreement with India for the purchase of chemical fertilizers.

Nepal Oil Corporation and Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) have maintained a commercial partnership for the supply of petroleum products for decades.
