MUSTANG: Seven tourists have died from high-altitude sickness over the past seven months in Mustang district, according to the District Police Office.
Of the total fatalities, four were foreign nationals, while six were male and one female. The foreign victims included three Indians and one Mexican, with ages ranging from 41 to 75, said District Police Office information officer Ishwor Mahat.
Among Nepali nationals, 75-year-old Madhav Prasad Sharma Uprety of Mahalaxmi Municipality-4, Lalitpur, died on October 10, 2025, at Gharpajhong-4, Jomsom. Another Nepali, Jagat Bahadur Timilsina, 50, from Balephi Rural Municipality-8, Sindhupalchowk, passed away on October 26, 2025.
Recently, 41-year-old Sarita Budhathoki from Thori Rural Municipality-4, Parsa, also lost her life while trekking at high altitude. The foreign tourist deaths occurred on various dates during the same period.
