KATHMANDU: The parliamentary hearing process for ambassadorial nominees to 13 countries is set to begin today at the Parliamentary Hearing Committee under the House of Representatives.
According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, complaints filed against the ambassadorial nominees will be distributed to committee members during a meeting scheduled for 11:15 am today.
The meeting will also distribute the action plans submitted by the proposed ambassadors among committee members.
A total of seven complaints have been filed against the 13 nominees. Two complaints have been lodged collectively against the nominees, while five have been filed individually against specific candidates.
The Cabinet meeting held on September 18 had decided to recommend ambassadors for 13 countries. The government has recommended Dr Nischalnath Pandey as ambassador to India, Dr Kalyanraj Sharma to China, Chiranjung Thapa to the United States and former Chief of Army Staff Gaurav Shumsher Jung Bahadur Rana to the United Kingdom.
Similarly, Jigyan Kumar Thapa has been recommended for Japan, Suresh Kumar Karna for Israel, Pratibha Sherchan for Spain, Sharu Joshi for Germany, Dr Padmakshi Rana for Oman, Chudamani Kharel for Malaysia, Prof. Dr Sangam Shrestha for South Korea, Dr Manchala Jha for Sri Lanka and Giri Bahadur Sunar for Saudi Arabia.
