Two arrested with 63 mobile phones sans bills



CHITWAN: Police have arrested two people in Chitwan with 63 mobile phones allegedly being sold or transported without bills or receipts.

According to the District Police Office, Chitwan, police arrested Deepak Prasai, 41, from Hakim Chowk in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-10 following a tip-off that mobile phones were being sold without proper bills.

Police seized 58 mobile phones and related devices from Prasai, who operates Deepak Mobile. The seized items include 50 Apple iPhones of various models, four Samsung phones, two Redmi phones, one Apple iPad and one Vivo phone, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Chandra Bhushan Yadav, information officer at the district police office.

Similarly, police arrested 28-year-old Umananda Bhusal from the Ramnagar area of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-1 on suspicion of transporting mobile phones without bills. Five Samsung mobile phones were recovered from him.

Police said the two suspects and the seized mobile phones have been handed over to the Customs Office in Birgunj, Parsa, for necessary legal action.
