NEPSE CEO Chudamani Chapagain resigns before completing term

KATHMANDU: Chudamani Chapagain has resigned as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), officials said on Monday.

According to sources, Chapagain submitted his resignation to Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle. He stepped down before completing his full tenure.

Chapagain had been appointed NEPSE CEO on April 1, 2025, through a Cabinet decision.

The resignation comes amid broader changes in government-appointed positions. The Rastriya Swatantra Party-led government has been replacing around 1,500 political appointees from various public bodies through an ordinance and a new appointment process.

Although several past appointments were revoked under the ordinance, the appointment made at NEPSE had not been cancelled. Chapagain’s resignation therefore comes as a separate development rather than a formal removal by the government.
