RSP begins district conventions across the country ahead of first national convention

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has begun its district-level conventions across the country as part of preparations for its first national convention scheduled for next month.

According to RSP General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti, conventions will be held in 37 districts on Friday and in 29 districts on Saturday.

The party’s organizational schedule, approved by the central committee, envisions completing district conventions before moving on to provincial conventions from June 9 to June 15.

The party’s first national convention is scheduled to take place in Chitwan from June 20 to 22.

District conventions underway

On Friday, conventions are being held in 37 districts across all seven provinces, including Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Kaski, Dang, Banke, Bardiya, Makwanpur, Kavre, and others.

On Saturday, conventions will continue in 29 districts, including Lalitpur, Chitwan, Rupandehi, Dhanusha, Siraha, Parsa, Surkhet, Kailali, Kanchanpur, and several others.

Burlakoti said the convention in Bara district has been rescheduled for June 9 due to special organizational circumstances.

Majority of district conventions to be completed before national gathering

Under the current plan, the party aims to complete conventions in 67 of Nepal’s 77 districts before its national convention.

The remaining 10 district conventions will be organized after the national convention, according to the party.

Provincial conventions are also set to begin on June 9, starting with Bagmati Province.

The district and provincial conventions are expected to finalize organizational structures and elect leadership representatives ahead of the party’s first national convention, which is being viewed as a major milestone in the RSP’s organizational development.
