148 kg of marijuana seized from ambulance with Indian number plate



BIRATNAGAR: Police have seized an ambulance with an Indian number plate carrying 148 kilograms of marijuana from Barahachhetra, Sunsari. Two individuals on board the vehicle have been arrested.

According to police, the contraband was found packed in plastic bags inside an ambulance bearing registration number BR 07 PC 4765, seized on Tuesday from Pulthegauda, Barahachhetra Municipality–2.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Chandra Bahadur Khadka, information officer at the District Police Office, Sunsari, said the arrested individuals are ambulance driver Dharmendra Kumar Yadav, 18, of Birpur in Supaul district, Bihar, India, and Mohammad Sadam, 21, also from Birpur.

Police suspect the ambulance may have been used in an attempt to transport the drugs into India. Further investigation is underway against the arrested individuals.
