Four arrested in Surkhet with brown sugar drugs



KARNALI: The District Police Office, Surkhet, has arrested four individuals in Birendranagar in connection with brown sugar drugs.

Deputy Superintendent of Police and spokesperson Mohanjung Budhathapa identified the arrested as Arjun Kumar Prajapati, 21, of Birendranagar Municipality-3; Lalita Singh Thakuri, 22, of Ward No. 7; Ramesh Rawal, 18, of Narharinath Rural Municipality-9, Kalikot; and Arjun Budha, 22, of Thakurbaba Municipality-7, Bardiya. Police recovered 1.56 grams of brown sugar and 31 nitrazepam tablets from them.

“They were apprehended during a special operation based on a tip-off from a local that drug dealing was occurring in various areas of Birendranagar. Drugs were found during the search,” said DSP Budhathapa. Investigation against the arrested individuals has been initiated.

In a separate case, Bhupendra Singh Thagunna, 27, of Naugad Rural Municipality-2 and an absconding suspect in a rape case, was apprehended in Kathmandu and brought to Surkhet Police Station for investigation.
