Two prisoners arrested nine months after escaping from jail



KANCHANPUR: Police have arrested two inmates who escaped from Kanchanpur District Jail nine months ago.

The two prisoners, who were serving sentences in separate cases, had escaped from the jail on September 9, 2025.

According to Birendra Singh Thapa, information officer at the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, those arrested are Madan Chaudhary of Krishnapur Municipality-2, Bani, and Arjun Khadka of Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City-13, Rajpur, Kailali.

Police said Chaudhary had been serving an 18-year prison sentence in a rape case. Similarly, Khadka had been sentenced to five years in prison and fined Rs 5,000 in a brown heroin-related drug case. Police had intensified the search for the duo following their escape and recently succeeded in tracking them down and arresting them.
