Court refuses to keep businessman Shekhar Golchha in custody

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has refused to grant permission to keep businessman Shekhar Golchha in custody, effectively paving the way for him to be investigated without detention.

Following the court’s decision not to extend his remand, authorities will now continue the investigation while keeping him outside custody.

Golchha, who was arrested in connection with two separate cases related to securities and insurance offences, has already completed his statement, while the bail hearing is yet to take place.

On Monday, Golchha was released from custody in a securities-related case following a Supreme Court interim order. However, shortly after his release, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) took him into control again for investigation in a separate insurance-related case.
