Bhaktapur police ‘sweep operation’ nets over 60 overnight



BHAKTAPUR: More than 60 individuals were detained during a ‘sweep operation’ carried out by the District Police Range, Bhaktapur on Saturday night to curb activities disturbing public peace.

District Police Chief SP Surya Bahadur Khadka said those taken into custody are being investigated, and cases will be filed based on the nature of their alleged offenses.

The operation involved coordinated mobilization of multiple units, including the Thimi and Jagate police circles. According to police, the detainees were involved in activities such as creating public disturbances, engaging in suspicious behavior, consuming drugs, gathering in groups and causing noise, among other actions deemed disruptive to public order.

Police said the operation was also aimed at ensuring a peaceful environment ahead of the upcoming Bisket Jatra festival.
