Voter turnout strongly reflects commitment to democracy: NC President Thapa



KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has said that the recent voter participation in the House of Representatives election strongly reflects Nepalis’ loyalty and firm commitment to democracy.

In a statement issued after the conclusion of voting, Thapa expressed gratitude and respect to everyone involved in successfully conducting the election.

He said, “The enthusiasm and active participation shown by voters nationwide in the House of Representatives election have once again strongly expressed Nepalis’ loyalty and unwavering commitment to democracy. On behalf of the Nepali Congress, I extend my highest respect and gratitude to all mothers, fathers, sisters, and brothers who exercised their invaluable voting rights.”

Thapa added that the active participation of voters not only confirms the deep trust in the democratic system but also holds political parties and the future government more accountable to public expectations.

He also thanked the government and the Election Commission for ensuring a peaceful election, except for a few isolated incidents in some constituencies.

The statement further expressed heartfelt appreciation to civil servants, security personnel, political parties, media, and both national and international observers for their responsible roles in the election process.
