Voting underway nationwide as top leaders cast ballots in HoR election



KATHMANDU: Voting is underway across the country under the House of Representatives (HoR) member election, which began at 7:00 am on Thursday. Within the first hour of polling, several top leaders and candidates cast their votes with enthusiasm.

Chairperson of the Ujyalo Nepal Party, Kulman Ghising, voted at the Janakalyan Secondary School polling centre in Kathmandu Constituency-3.

Likewise, Rastriya Prajatantra Party leader and Kathmandu-5 candidate Kamal Thapa cast his ballot at the Bishal Milan Kendra polling centre in Ward No. 4 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal voted at the Nepal Police School Shantipur polling centre in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-14, Chitwan.

Similarly, Nepali Congress Vice-President Bishwa Prakash Sharma cast his vote at Kabishiromani Secondary School polling centre in Mechinagar-9, Jhapa Constituency-1.

Leader of the Gatishil Loktantrik Party and former Finance Minister Janardan Sharma voted at Yamuna Nanda Model Secondary School in Musikot Municipality-5, Rukum West.

General Secretary of the UML, Shankar Pokharel, cast his vote at Janata Sanskrit Secondary School in Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City-18, Dang.

Chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Rabi Lamichhane, voted early in the morning at the Mahankal polling centre located at Upatyaka Khanepani Limited in Chuchepati, Kathmandu. Senior leader Balen Shah cast his ballot at Annapurna English School in Sinamangal.

Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari also voted in Anamnagar.

The HoR election is being held in a special political context following the Gen-Z movement. Voting is taking place in a single phase nationwide from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Voters had started queuing from as early as 6:00 am to exercise their franchise.
