CHENNAI: Nepal registered a commanding six-wicket win over Canada in their second warm-up match ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup on Thursday.
Chasing Canada’s total of 162, Nepal reached the target in 18 overs, losing four wickets. Aasif Sheikh starred for Nepal, scoring 58 runs before retiring out, while Sundeep Jora added 44 and Gulshan Jhaye contributed 31 runs.
For Canada, Ajayveer Hundal, Jaskaran Singh, and Saad Bin Jafar took one wicket each.
Earlier, Canada batted first and posted 161 runs for six wickets in their 20 overs. Navneet Dhaliwal top-scored with 41, followed by Shreyas Movale with 39 runs. Nepal’s bowlers Sandeep Lamichhane and Kushal Bhurtel picked up two wickets each.
Nepal had also defeated the UAE in their first warm-up match. Before that, they won two practice matches against MCA President’s XI in Mumbai and lost a three-match series 2-1 against Sri Lanka A in Sri Lanka.
The ICC T20 World Cup begins on February 7, with Nepal scheduled to face England in their opening match on February 8.
