Rs 133.5 million collected in government fund for Gen Z movement damages



KATHMANDU: A total of Rs 133.5 million has been collected in a government fund set up to restore properties damaged during the September 8–9 Gen Z movement.

According to Finance Ministry Spokesperson Tanka Prasad Pandeya, Rs 133,565,000 has been deposited in the fund as of Monday morning.

Siddhartha Premier Insurance Limited contributed Rs 10.1 million today under its Institutional Social Responsibility initiative. Last week, MetLife Nepal deposited Rs 2.5 million, and earlier Oriental Insurance contributed Rs 2 million.

The fund was established to support restoration of physical properties damaged during the protests, inviting contributions from the public, private sector, non-resident Nepalis, development partners, and donor agencies. Contributors are also allowed to claim or deduct expenses when calculating taxable income for the current fiscal year.

Those wishing to contribute can deposit funds into the Rastriya Banijya Bank account number 1960100102070004.
