59 days left for polls: EC appoints Election Officers



KATHMANDU: With 59 days remaining until the House of Representatives (HoR) elections, the Election Commission (EC) has appointed district judges as Chief Election Officers and standby Election Officers.

According to the Commission, 77 district judges have been appointed as Chief Election Officers, while a total of 88 individuals were designated as Chief Election Officers and Election Officers in consultation with the Judicial Council, in line with Section 8 of the House of Representatives Members Act, 2074.

The election of members of the House of Representatives has been scheduled for March 5. The Commission stated that the appointed Chief Election Officers and Election Officers have been instructed to begin work in their respective constituencies from February 3.

The Commission has also directed officials to establish their offices and initiate election-related activities accordingly. The House of Representatives consists of 275 members, of whom 165 are elected through the first-past-the-post system and 110 through the proportional representation system.
