GANDAKI: The District Administration Office, Kaski, has urged operators of water tourism activities in Pokhara, including those operating on Fewa Lake, to ensure safety and comply with existing laws.
The office directed operators to register boats, kayaks and surfing boats with the relevant authorities before operating them. It also stressed that participation in water-based recreational activities without wearing life jackets must be strictly prohibited.
According to the statement issued by Assistant Chief District Officer Ramesh Gharti, business operators must regularly monitor the safety conditions of people participating in water tourism activities.
The office has also urged operators not to allow children below 16 years of age to use kayaks and surfing boats without adult supervision. Such activities must be conducted only in designated areas, and the number of boats in operation must not exceed the limit approved by the authorities.
Similarly, operators have been instructed to ensure that water tourism activities do not adversely affect the environmental cleanliness and natural beauty of the lakes.
The 15-point notice also prohibits boating, kayaking and surfing during storms, rainfall and lightning to prevent possible accidents.
The administration has warned that legal action will be taken against operators who fail to follow the prescribed safety measures and operate in violation of the notice.
