Gagan’s political report proposes two-term limit for prime minister



KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has presented his political report at the party’s 15th General Convention, proposing that a leader from the party should serve as prime minister for a maximum of two terms.

The report proposes that the same person should not serve as prime minister for more than two terms. It also calls for initiating efforts to introduce a constitutional provision barring anyone from serving as prime minister for more than two terms.

The political report includes a proposal to set a term limit for the prime minister to prevent prolonged personal control over power and leadership. It also proposes beginning a review process in all seven provinces, making the first Prosperity Policy Paper public, and maintaining records of community contributions.

The report has also prioritised arrangements to allow Nepalis living abroad to participate in the voting process.
