Harka Sampang objects to Home Minister’s talks with ‘Hindu Samrat Sena’-like groups

KATHMANDU: Shram Sanskriti Party Chairperson Harka Sampang has objected to Home Minister Sudan Gurung holding talks with groups such as the ‘Hindu Samrat Sena’, saying such organizations should not exist in a sovereign country.

Speaking during Tuesday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Sampang said Nepal can have no other army-like organizations apart from the Nepal Army.

He criticized the government for engaging in dialogue with groups carrying names associated with “armies” and said such organizations should be banned and prohibited rather than negotiated with.

Sampang also raised concerns over an alleged attempt by a group to block and prevent him from traveling to Janakpur.

He sought the government’s response over the alleged assault on his supporters by an unidentified group in Janakpur on July 21, saying no action was taken despite informing the Home Minister about the incident.

The lawmaker also urged the government to address flood-related issues, claiming that keeping all 56 gates of the Koshi Barrage closed during the monsoon has contributed to inundation in Nepali territory.

He further called for an impartial and fact-based investigation into recent incidents reported in Sunsari and other areas.
