Nepali Congress suspends Bara district president over alleged election misconduct

KATHMANDU: The Central Disciplinary Committee of the Nepali Congress has suspended Bara District Working Committee President Rajesh Rai Yadav over allegations of violating party discipline during the parliamentary elections.

A meeting of the committee held on Thursday at the party’s central office, BP Smriti Bhawan in Lalitpur, decided to suspend Yadav from performing his duties as district president until a final decision is reached.

According to the committee, Yadav failed to submit an explanation within the stipulated timeframe despite being asked twice to clarify allegations that he worked against the party’s official candidate in the House of Representatives election held on March 5, 2026 (Falgun 21, 2082).

The committee said further investigation is required, and the suspension will remain in effect pending the outcome of the inquiry.

Meanwhile, the disciplinary committee directed three Madhesh Province Assembly members from Sarlahi: Sakunti Devi Mahara, Kaushal Kishor Rai, and Jangilal Rai, to remain fully committed to the party’s statute and regulations after reviewing their explanations.

The committee also decided not to take further action against Bara District Vice President Amirilal Raut. It said his clarification was found satisfactory following a review of relevant documents and investigation findings, clearing him of the allegations.
