Stormy weather expected with heavy rain in parts of country



KATHMANDU: Parts of the country are likely to witness unstable weather today, with forecasts indicating thunderstorms and moderate to heavy rainfall in several regions, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

The Department’s Weather Forecasting Division said skies will remain generally cloudy nationwide, with rain, lightning, windstorms, and hail likely in hilly and mountainous areas, especially in Sudurpaschim Province and Lumbini Province. Isolated rainfall is also expected in parts of the Terai, while heavy rain may occur at one or two locations in Sudurpaschim Province and Karnali Province.

Similar conditions are expected tonight, with widespread cloud cover and chances of rain and thunderstorms across Gandaki Province, Lumbini Province, Karnali Province, and Sudurpaschim Province, along with a few areas in other provinces. The Department has also warned of possible heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning in isolated parts of Lumbini Province.
