Nearly 4,000 personnel to be mobilized in Baglung for HoR elections

BAGLUNG: Nearly 4,000 personnel will be mobilized in Baglung district for the election of members to the House of Representatives scheduled for March 5.

According to the District Election Office, Baglung, preparations are underway to deploy a total of 3,995 personnel, including 1,935 security personnel and 2,060 election staff, across the district. Security arrangements will involve the Nepal Police, Election Police, Armed Police Force (APF), and the Nepal Army, based on security needs.

A total of 637 Nepal Police personnel and 1,298 Election Police will be deployed to ensure election security, said Baglung Superintendent of Police Tilak Bharati. While the Nepal Police will be responsible for securing polling stations and ballot boxes, the Armed Police Force and Nepal Army will be mobilized in the outer security perimeter as required.

The exact number of APF and Army personnel has not been disclosed for security reasons. “There is a separate mobile police mechanism to respond immediately in case of any incident,” SP Bharati said. “With the Army and Armed Police remaining on standby outside polling stations, voters will be able to cast their ballots confidently.”

For election operations, 2,060 personnel, including polling officers, assistant polling officers, and support staff, will be deployed at 107 polling stations and 230 polling centers.

According to Gokul Sharma, Information Officer at the District Election Office, this includes 230 polling officers, 230 assistant polling officers, and 1,610 support staff, with an average of seven staff members per polling center. Priority has been given to civil servants for polling roles, while teachers will be recruited where necessary.

Due to security sensitivity, voter distribution, and accessibility, one additional polling center has been added and one polling station reduced, while two polling centers have been relocated.

Baglung district has 193,381 registered voters, including 94,806 men and 98,574 women, across 10 local levels. A total of 23 candidates are contesting for two House of Representatives seats in the district.
