BAITADI: Five new polling stations have been added in Baitadi for the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5.
The new polling stations will be set up at the ward office building of Sigas Rural Municipality-4 in Kandhar; Kedarshila Basic School in Surkal of Dasharathchand Municipality-7; Kedar Basic School in Sim Lodasau of Dasharathchand Municipality-9; Shreepur Basic School in Bachhala of Shivnath Rural Municipality-3; and Tripureshwor Secondary School in Kulda of Patan Municipality-5.
Meanwhile, one polling station has been reduced. One of the two polling stations at Koteshwor Basic School in Melauli Municipality-2 has been removed.
According to Naresh Dayal, Information Officer at the Election Office, the total number of polling stations has increased to 214 from 210 in the previous election, while the number of polling centres remains unchanged at 129.
Purushottam Joshi, acting chief of the District Election Office, confirmed that 214 polling stations have been designated for the upcoming election.
A temporary polling station will also be set up at the district headquarters. The District Election Office is currently collecting details of temporary voters, including local, provincial, and federal government employees, security personnel, and individuals residing in prisons and old-age homes.
A total of 156,372 voters have been registered in the district for the upcoming election. This includes 6,216 newly added voters, up from 150,156 in the previous election.
