KATHMANDU: Nepali Communist Party Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, is leaving for the Indian capital, New Delhi, today.
This is Prachanda’s first visit to Delhi since forming the Nepali Communist Party through the merger of parties, including the Unified Socialist, following the Gen-Z protests in September 8 and 9, 2025.
According to his chief personal secretary, Govinda Acharya, Prachanda is visiting Delhi to address a “unity message meeting” organized by the former Maoist Center, the former Unified Socialist, and other party-affiliated diaspora organizations.
“The message meeting was scheduled a month ago, and he is going to Delhi to address it,” Acharya said. Prachanda is expected to return home on Monday after the program. “He plans to leave this evening and return tomorrow evening,” Acharya added.
Observers are watching Prachanda’s Delhi visit closely ahead of the elections scheduled for March 5. Any additional programs during his stay have not been disclosed.
The Prachanda secretariat has clarified that he has no other political meetings planned in Delhi besides addressing the message meeting.
