LALITPUR: More than 313,000 visitors visited the Patan Durbar Museum in 2025, according to museum officials.
Administrative Chief of Patan Durbar Museum, Sureshman Lakhe, said a total of 313,300 visitors observed the museum over the year. Of them, 105,300 were foreign tourists, including 43,053 visitors from SAARC countries.
The remaining visitors were domestic tourists, comprising 40,400 students and 124,550 members of the general public.
In comparison, the museum had received 318,337 foreign visitors in 2024, indicating a decline in international tourist arrivals. Lakhe attributed the decrease mainly to the Gen-Z Movement and ongoing road improvement works around the Patan Durbar Square area, which affected visitor access and movement.
However, he noted that the number of Nepali visitors has been increasing steadily each year.
“Although there are fluctuations in the arrival of foreign tourists due to the changing situation in the country, the number of Nepali tourists is continuously increasing,” Lakhe said.
