RSP General Secretary Burlakoti says Rabi–Modi meeting possible

KATHMANDU: General Secretary of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Kabindra Burlakoti has indicated that a meeting between party Chair Rabi Lamichhane and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi could take place during Lamichhane’s ongoing visit to India.

Speaking to journalists after a House of Representatives meeting, Burlakoti said he was pleased with the reception given to Lamichhane at the headquarters of India’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is currently managing the visit.

He noted that since the visit is being coordinated by the BJP, there could be facilitation for a meeting with Prime Minister Modi.

“We are happy with the respect given to him at their headquarters. We will move forward diplomatically to use it in the national interest,” Burlakoti said. “There may also be a schedule for a meeting with the Indian Prime Minister. Since the visit is at the invitation of the BJP, they are facilitating necessary arrangements.”

Burlakoti also stated that Nepal–India border issues can be resolved through diplomatic dialogue and mutual understanding. He added that the Prime Minister’s recent remarks on the issue should also be viewed in the context of diplomatic processes rather than emotional reactions.
