Birgunj Mayor Rajeshman Singh arrested



BIRGUNJ: Birgunj Metropolitan City Mayor Rajeshman Singh has been arrested by police in connection with a document-related offence, eight days after an arrest warrant was issued by the District Court, Parsa.

According to Chief of the District Police Office, Parsa, Superintendent of Police Sudip Raj Pathak, Singh was taken into custody from the Thori area of Parsa, where he had been staying.

The District Court, Parsa, had issued an arrest warrant against Mayor Singh for investigation into allegations linked to forged or disputed documents. The warrant was issued based on a complaint filed by local resident Liaqat Ali, naming Singh and two others.

Police said Singh has been kept in custody for further investigation.
