Govt serious and alert over escalating Gulf tensions: PM Karki



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said the government is serious and vigilant regarding the deepening tensions in the Middle East following attacks on Iran by Israel and the United States.

Addressing the nation on Monday, she stated that recent developments in Iran and surrounding regions have heightened concerns.

The Prime Minister said the Government of Nepal is closely monitoring the evolving situation. She clarified that the safety of Nepali citizens residing in the region for employment and other purposes remains a top priority.

She informed that all Nepali diplomatic missions in the Middle East have been mobilized to provide necessary security facilitation. Continuous monitoring is being carried out through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nepal, she added.

Stating that the government is prepared to take necessary steps in case of any emergency, the Prime Minister urged Nepalis living abroad to remain alert and stay in contact with the concerned embassies and missions.

She reiterated the government’s commitment to safeguarding the security and interests of every Nepali citizen, wherever they may be.
